Requirements

To enroll in the PADI Rescue Diver x Emergency Oxygen Provider/EFR course, you need to have at least an advanced open water from any recognized training agency and need to be in good physical health.

What's Involved?

Your journey to learning how to handle stressful situations while developing your diving skills starts by filling out required paperwork, getting any necessary equipment, and completing homework prior to the first night of class. This course is split into two sections:

  • The first section is the classroom session. During the classroom session, the instructor will cover the schedule for the course, logistics, and any other questions. The instructor will then go over some basic self rescue skills that will be required to complete the required dives, after which the instructor will give a presentation about emergency oxygen equipment and its use.
  • During the second session, you will complete 1 pool dive and 1 ocean dive over two days. You will complete self rescue skills, underwater and surface recovery tasks, practice giving rescue breaths to a diver while in the water and practice responding to a stressed patient. One dive will be done from shore at one of the many sites in Southern California, you will practice all the skills from the pool in the ocean in a search and rescue scenario. At the end of the course if all requirements have been met, students will be certified to administer emergency oxygen, provide basic life saving first aid and understand how to respond to stressful situations while diving.
